Certification Training Process
This process combines live and self-paced learning. The small group mentoring classes, Teach Back Days, and final class are held via Zoom. Certification is based on successful completion of the Teach Backs and participation in all the group classes.
Small Group Classes: Attend five small group mentoring classes with 5 other participants and a HeartMath® Senior Facilitator that are scheduled every week. The first class is 2 hours, the remaining 4 classes are 90-minutes. In this phase participants will use the Study Guide to help draw out key elements in the program. This includes a close look at the program Trainer Notes, supportive documents and module videos to understand some of the basic science and concepts of the HeartMath System. An important aspect is learning and applying the coherence techniques in your own daily life to fully understand their application. Between the small group mentoring, participants are highly encouraged to meet together to discuss main learnings, applications and practice presenting the material to each other. This phase is very important in preparation for the two Teach Back days. Attendance is required.
Teach Back Days: Prepare for and present two, 30-minute assigned modules to your mentoring group over two full days. Each participant and the Teach Back Facilitator will give constructive feedback after each presentation to support and deepen the learning experience. The Teach Backs offer an even deeper dive into the program material and facilitation of it, while at the same time, allowing the Facilitators to assess the ability to present the program content and practices effectively. Attendance is required.
Attend a half-day Final Class: Attend a half-day Final Class to expand your learning. Attendance is required.
Attend a final debrief: Attend a final debrief with your designated HeartMath representative.
Scope of Practice
The “Scope of Practice” for a HeartMath® Certified Trainer to deliver the Coherence Advantage™ (CA) program is defined as using presentation slides or other forms of interactive media in delivering workshops, presentations and facilitating groups of any size in person or online. The CA program is designed for working with any type of group. The scope of practice does not include the authority to certify others. Only HeartMath headquarters and it’s officially designated partners have the authority to certify trainers.
Training Teams: If you work with teams, and are looking for a certification program designed for team training, the Activating the Heart of Teams™ Certification introduces the knowledge, concepts and skill sets for building team coherence.
Post-Certification Community of Practice: Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to join the HeartMath Community of Practice. To help ensure your success as a HeartMath certified professional, the first year fee is discounted 90% (normally $295 per year).
Access to the community includes the option to list yourself in the public Certified Professional Directory and a 25% discount on product purchases (items that are not already on sale).

- $400 cancellation fee if canceling 30–45 days before the first class.
- $800 cancellation fee if canceling 15–29 days before the first class.
- $1200 cancellation fee if canceling 14 days or less before the first class.
- $1500 cancellation fee after the first class begins.
