You learn it for yourself first

The course has a dual focus by design: deepening your own practice while you develop the skills to coach others. You can't teach this from a manual.

icon_person_blue

You practice on a real person

You'll work with one practice client each week for seven of the eight weeks — a classmate, friend, or colleague. By the end you've coached, not just studied.

You join a global community

Certification brings you into a worldwide community of HeartMath CertifiedProfessionals, plus optional monthly Best Practices sessions to keep learning.

Built on the research

The coaching skills you'll learn draw on 35+ years of research and best practice developed with diverse populations worldwide — grounded in the HeartMath Institute's peer-reviewed work on the heart-brain connection.

The seven classes

Where the seven weeks take you.

Each class pairs a pre-recorded video with a one-hour live Zoom session.

Start with yourself. You'll work out what you actually want from this and what's been getting in the way, then learn Heart-Focused Breathing™ — a technique that takes about a minute and works in the middle of a hard conversation. It's the foundation for everything you'll teach later.

Why some people bounce back and others burn out. You'll learn to separate what happens to your clients from how their system responds to it — and map where their energy actually goes, so "I'm exhausted" becomes something specific you can work on together.

The science your clients will ask about. What's happening in the body when someone is steady versus stretched thin, why telling them to relax doesn't work, and a second technique for shifting state on purpose — plus a simple framework for using it before, during and after a hard moment.

A tool clients remember. The Grid makes it obvious where their energy is going and what it's costing them — and gives them away to catch themselves sliding, and choose differently in the moment. Visual, quick to explain, and hard to forget.

For the client who's stuck and can't think their way out. Freeze Frame® is a structured way to step back from a decision or a problem and get a genuinely different perspective — something you can walk a client through in a few minutes.

Why a client can understand something perfectly and still not change. You'll learn how habits get set, how practice reshapes them, and Heart Lock-In® — the longer practice that makes the change hold, rather than fading a week after your session.

Your own state affects the room, and so does your client's. You'll learn how that works, and Coherent Communication™ — a way to clear the tension underneath a difficult conversation so people can actually hear each other. Useful with clients, and in your own life.

Where to take it from here — pulling the eight weeks together, and building your own practice so you’re teaching from experience rather than from notes. Two short videos: Two Organizations, One Mission (2 min) on the HeartMath Institute and how the research reaches your work, and an invitation to the Community of Practice (3 min), where certified coaches keep learning fromeach other.
