HSA/FSA eligibility
Your health account can pay for this. That's about 30% off.
The Inner Balance™ Coherence Plus and emWave® Pro are HSA/FSA eligible. If you have a Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account through your employer, you can use pre- tax dollars — which works out to around 30% in savings on average.
Letter of Medical Necessity in 24–48 hrs | No extra cost to you
How It Works
Four steps to use your funds.
You buy the way you normally would. The reimbursement happens afterward — and the paperwork is one short form.
Step 1
Confirm your account
Make sure you have an active HSA or FSA. These are available to US-based employees and companies.
If you're not sure, your employer's benefits coordinator or plan administrator can confirm your status and which categories they reimburse.
Step 2
Complete your purchase
Add what you want to your cart and check out as usual, using your regular credit or debit card.
Not your HSA/FSA card — that's a compliance thing, and paying normally then claiming back is far more likely to be approved.
Step 3
Get your Letter of Medical Necessity
Your order confirmation page has a prompt to get reimbursed. That opens a short evaluation form.
An independent licensed provider reviews it and, if approved, emails you a Letter of Medical Necessity within 24–48 hours, along with what to do next.
Step 4
Submit and get reimbursed
Send the letter and your receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator, following the instructions that came with it.
Once approved, they reimburse you for the eligible amount.
~30%
Average savings when you use pre-tax dollars
Because HSA and FSA contributions come out before tax, the same money goes further. Rather than paying tax on income and then buying, you're buying with pre-tax funds.

Why it qualifies
Stress management counts as healthcare.
HSAs and FSAs exist so you can spend tax-advantaged dollars on products and services that help treat or prevent medical conditions. Stress management sits squarely in that category — and our partner Truemed handles the part that makes it official.
Through Truemed, an independent licensed provider reviews your situation and issues a Letter of Medical Necessity. That letter is what turns the purchase into a qualified medical expense — the same standing as a visit to the doctor or a prescription. It satisfies the IRS requirements, so your administrator can reimburse it.
There's no cost to you for using Truemed when you're shopping with a partner merchant like
HeartMath.
Questions
HSA/FSA, answered
-
What are HSA and FSA accounts?
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) let you set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses. If you're not sure whether you have one, check with your employer or insurance
company. -
How does using my HSA/FSA account save me money?
HSA/FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition. Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you’re getting more purchasing power for your dollar. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in their health.
An individual can contribute up to $4,150 pre-tax to their HSA per year or $8,300 for a family (plus an additional $1,000 if you are at least 55 years old). Individuals can contribute up to $3,200 pre-tax to their FSA per year (with an additional $500 in employer contributions allowed). -
What are FSA and HSA accounts?
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are programs that allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses. If you’re unsure whether or not you have an HSA or FSA account, please check with your employer or insurance company.
-
Can I use my HSA/FSA card at HeartMath?
You will not be able to checkout with your HSA/FSA cards for compliance purposes. Please use your normal credit or debit card and submit for reimbursement as outlined above for the greatest likelihood of success.
-
How long does HSA or FSA reimbursement take?
For most FSA/HSA administrators, your expenses will be approved within days when you submit your claim for reimbursement along with your receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity. The exact timing will vary based on your administrator.
-
Do I need to take Truemed’s survey every time I make a purchase from HeartMath?
If you have already received a Letter of Medical Necessity for purchasing specific products from a merchant, you do not need to complete Truemed’s survey again so long as your Letter of Medical Necessity remains valid. Letters of Medical Necessity are typically valid for 12 months after they are first issued. You do still need to submit your receipts for reimbursement with your HSA/FSA administrator.
-
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
The items in your Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) are now qualified medical expenses in the same way a visit to the doctor’s office or pharmaceutical product is.
There are thousands of studies showing food, exercise, and stress management are often the best medicine to prevent and reverse disease. Exercise qualifies as a qualified medical expense with an LMN. Food, supplements, and other wellness purchases qualify as medical expenses if they treat or prevent an illness and a doctor substantiates the need. Your Truemed LMN satisfies all IRS requirements to make your wellness spend fully reimbursable. -
Are there fees associated with using Truemed's services?
There is no cost to you as long as you are shopping with a Truemed partner merchant.
-
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
You can use your HSA/FSA dollars all year long. However, FSA dollars expire at the end of the year, and unused money may not roll over into the next year. Make sure to spend the rest of your FSA dollars before December 31st — use it so you don’t lose it!
-
I don’t have enough funds in my HSA/FSA account to reimburse the entire purchase. Can I still use Truemed?
Yes. You can still submit for partial reimbursement. For example, if you purchase an eligible item for $100 but only have $60 in your account, you can reimburse $60 of your purchase with your tax-free funds (with the remaining $40 paid for as normal).
-
What if my reimbursement is rejected by my administrator?
Please contact us at support@truemed.com so we can help you troubleshoot the issue. HSA/FSA plan administrators often have detailed requirements, so it may be as simple as reissuing your Letter of Medical Necessity using the administrator’s form.
