How certification works
Eight weeks, and you'll be assessed on your teaching.
Certification depends on successfully completing the Teach Backs and participating in the small-group classes — not simply attending.
1
Five small-group mentoring classes
Two hours each on Zoom, with five other participants and a HeartMath Senior Facilitator, working through the Trainer Notes, module videos, and the science using the Study Guide.
You'll also apply the coherence techniques in your own life — you can't facilitate what you haven't felt.

Two Teach Back days
Full days presenting two assigned 30-minute modules to your group. Peers and a Teach Back Facilitator give feedback after each one.
The first follows Mentoring Class 3, the second follows Class 5.

A half-day final class
Live, covering additional topics to broaden what you can handle in the room.

Your final debrief
A one-to-one with your designated HeartMath representative to close out certification.

Live science Q&A
An invitation to a question-and-answer session with HeartMath's Research Director, held at various times throughout the year.
Plan for the workload
Reserve three to four hours of study before each class or session. Attendance at all mentoring classes, both Teach Back days, and the final class is required.

Graduates are eligible to join a community of trainers who are genuinely eager to share best practice — the thing that's hardest to get anywhere else. Your first year is $29.50, discounted from the usual $295 a year.

Policies and requirements
Cancellation policy
Fees below apply based on how long before the first class you cancel:
- 30+ days before: $400
- 15–29 days before: $800
- 1–14 days before: $1,500
- After the first class begins: no refunds and no transfers
Transfer policy
If you're already enrolled, you can transfer once, and only to a class series that hasn't started:
- Current class begins 30+ days out: $500 fee
- Current class begins within 29 days: $1,500 fee
Emergencies are considered case by case.
Can I use HeartMath branding once I'm certified?
Yes — you'll be provided with logos and flyers to use on your website, in advertising, or on social media. There are no ongoing royalties for using these materials, per person or per group.
Attendance requirements
Attendance at all classes and teach-back sessions is required for certification. If you miss one because of an emergency, contact your trainer immediately.
If you don't meet the requirements first time
We're committed to every candidate getting there. If certification requirements aren't met during the program, we offer additional support — typically one to three hours at $150 per hour. Once that's complete and the fees are paid, certification is granted and you get access to the resources in your license agreement.
