How does the Ear Sensor work?

Nov 18, 2016

The HeartMath Sensors are a Plethysmograph not a Pulse Oximeter. The sensor uses low level LED light to measure the changes in blood volume in the ear lobe with each heartbeat. The sensor sends this signal to your device/computer where the inter-beat interval is calculated in milliseconds and then heart rate variability is plotted.
