HeartMath's 1:1 Provider Program is only currently available in North America and Australia.
As you evaluate HeartMath's 1:1 Program you may have some questions--how it works for you, your client and HeartMath. This frequently asked questions page summarizes a few of the provisions contained in the 1:1 License Agreement. The License Agreement and its provisions take precedence over anything contained in this document. If you have more questions please call a HeartMath representative at (800) 450-9111.

What does the 1-on-1 License Program provide me?
The 1:1 Program provides you with the training and the materials you need to effectively teach specific HeartMath techniques, concepts and theories to your clients, students or patients on a one-to-one basis. The program also grants you a license that allows you to commercially use HeartMath's intellectual property and promote yourself as a "HeartMath Licensed Provider" for financial gain.

Can I do public classes, workshops or seminars in which I teach the HeartMath techniques?
No. How to teach HeartMath tools and techniques in a classroom or workshop setting is not part of 1:1 Program. Our experience has shown that classroom training in these techniques is very different than teaching them to an individual. The 1:1 Program focuses on the skills and materials needed for effective individual instruction in a coaching style.

Even though I can not do classes, workshops or seminars can I speak to groups about HeartMath?
Yes, you can speak to groups about HeartMath. We hope you will, and that you will share your personal experiences and the benefits you and others have gained from the tools. The 1:1 license, however, does not allow you to teach HeartMath tools and techniques other than in 1:1 client situations.

Do I need to pay a percentage or royalty to HeartMath on the income I receive from teaching individuals the HeartMath tools?
No. There is no royalty payment to HeartMath on your income from this program. You are required to purchase and use specific materials for each of your clients that assist you in your instruction of the tools and concepts. A small percentage of the price you pay for these materials goes to the Institute of HeartMath who developed and owns the intellectual property and helps fund its ongoing research and development. Only one workbook need be purchased per client, regardless of the number of times you use HeartMath with your client.

Can HeartMath techniques be modified?
To maintain the integrity of the Institute of HeartMath's intellectual property and in order to stay within the guidelines of trademark and copyright law, you may not modify the techniques nor create work based on or using HeartMath and call it your own. Modifications of the HeartMath techniques and intellectual property are considered derivative works and remain the property of the Institute of HeartMath. Modifications include translations, editorial revisions, interpretive matter, annotations, elaboration's or other adaptations or forms of presentation that are based on the original HeartMath work. Modifications may be made only with specific written permission from HeartMath. We respect the expertise and experience many people bring to the 1:1 Program and are committed to a fair, collaborative and quick approval process regarding creative applications of HeartMath technology.

Can I use the HeartMath techniques with clients if I am not licensed?
You don't need a license to share your personal experience of the HeartMath system with others. Many professionals have discovered how their own personal use of the tools and techniques enhance their client work. If you believe your clients or patients could benefit from the HeartMath system, we suggest you refer them to the many HeartMath products which are written and designed for self learning. Without training and a license you cannot claim or advertise that you are a HeartMath provider, nor can you charge to teach others the techniques.

Can I sell HeartMath products to increase my income from the HeartMath aspect of my business?
Yes. In addition to the workbook (which are only available to people who are have a 1:1 license), you can purchase our commercially-available products, books, tapes, learning programs and Freeze-Framer® Interactive Learning System at discounted prices. Selling supporting books, materials, and the software can be a substantial income generator as well as a way to provide your clients with information to help their understanding and use of the tools. You can purchase most of these products at a discount that ranges from 20-40%.

How long is the license good for?
The license is for one year and is automatically renewed provided 1.) all HeartMath accounts are current and 2.) you are actively teaching the HeartMath 1:1 program to your clients. To be considered 'active' you are required to purchase a minimum of $500 worth of approved 1:1 workbooks and HeartMath tapes, Freeze-Framer programs, CDs and books during the 12 months prior to each renewal date.

*1:1 provider license does not allow for training groups or conducting any type of workshop or seminar.
