1991— Institute of HeartMath, a non-profit research and educational organization was founded by Doc Childre.

 

1991— The first HeartMath book, The How to Guide for Teen Self-Discovery by Doc Childre, was published.

 

1992-1994— Four HeartMath books published by Planetary Publications.

 

1995— Peer-reviewed research paper, The Effects of Emotions on Short-Term Power Spectrum Analysis of Heart Rate Variability, published in America Journal of Cardiolog.y

 

1995— HeartMath project (training intervention and study) wins Motorola’s Creativity and Innovation Award in their corporate-wide Total Customer Satisfaction (TCS) annual competition--blood pressure in hypertensive individuals decreased, 93% demonstrated increased productivity, 22% drop in manufacturing defects.

 

1998— HeartMath LLC, a training, product development and distribution company, was established as for-profit spinoff of the Institute of HeartMath.

 

1999—The HeartMath Solution, by Doc Childre and Howard Martin, published by Harper SanFrancisco.

 

1999— Freeze-Framer® Interactive Learning System, heart rhythm monitor and coherence building software/hardware product released.

 

2000— HeartMath staff retention program implemented at Delnor Community Hospital (Chicago). Turnover rates dropped from 26.9% to 5.9% for HeartMath trained staff, overall institutional turnover dropped from 26.9% to 21%, Total first year savings related to turnover = $800,000.

 

2002— Quantum Intech, technology development and licensing company established

 

2003— HeartMath’s research on executive health and stress reduction entitled “Pull the Plug on Stress” published in Harvard Business Review.

 

2003— Won TMC Labs Best Product award for Freeze-Framer® Interactive Learning System.

 

2005— Won Management Innovations Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives for improving staff well-being, retention and patient satisfaction at Delnor-Community Hospital.

 

2006— emWave® Personal Stress Reliever®, hand-held heart rhythm monitor and coherence building device released.

 

2007— emWave PC, new version of heart rhythm monitor and coherence building software/hardware product released.

 

2009— emWave® Personal Stress Reliever®, wins Last Gadget Standing Award at International Consumer Electronics show.

 

2009— HeartMath’s emWave Personal Stress Reliever® receives the Caregiver Friendly Award. Products are chosen by Today’s Caregiver magazine. Caregiver Friendly Awards celebrate outstanding products and services designed with the best interest of the family caregiver in mind.
