Is the 1:1 Provider program available outside the U.S.?
HeartMath's 1:1 Program is currently available only to residents of the United States and Canada. Check the Alliances section for alternative programs offered through some of HeartMath’s International Alliances.
What does the 1:1 License Program allow me to do?
The 1:1 Program provides the training and materials you need to effectively teach the HeartMath System to your clients, patients or students on a one-to-one basis. The program also grants you a license that allows for the commercial use of HeartMath's trade names and intellectual property and to promote yourself as a "HeartMath Licensed Provider".
What’s included in the HeartMath System?
The HeartMath System includes the complete range of HeartMath tools and techniques, the research, concepts and theories that support these techniques and HeartMath’s award winning emWave coherence building technology.
Does the license allow me to teach the HeartMath System in public classes, workshops or seminars?
No. This license limits use of HeartMath’s intellectual property to one-on-one instruction. The training program focuses on skills and materials for effective one-on-one, coaching-style instruction. A license to teach HeartMath workshops and other types of group classes is only available to organizations and is not offered to individuals.
Even though I can not do classes, workshops or seminars can I speak to groups about the HeartMath System?
Yes, you can speak to groups as part of your promotional effects. We hope you will, and that you will share your personal experiences and the benefits you and others have gained from the HeartMath System. The 1:1 license, however, does not allow you to teach specific HeartMath tools and techniques as part of these presentations. Specific guidelines on how to effectively speak to groups to promote your HeartMath business is addressed during the training.
Do I need to pay a percentage or royalty to HeartMath on the income I receive from teaching individuals the HeartMath System?
No. There is no royalty payment to HeartMath on your income as a licensed HeartMath Provider. You are, however, required to purchase and use specific client workbooks and other materials available only to licensed providers to assist you in your HeartMath instruction. A small percentage of the price you pay for these materials goes to the Institute of HeartMath who developed and owns the intellectual property to help fund its ongoing research and development. Only one workbook need be purchased per client, regardless of the number of times you use HeartMath information with that client.
Can HeartMath techniques be modified?
To maintain the integrity of the Institute of HeartMath's intellectual property and in order to stay within the guidelines of trademark and copyright law, you may not modify the techniques nor create work based on or using any part of the HeartMath System and call it your own. Modifications of the HeartMath techniques and intellectual property are considered derivative works and remain the property of the Institute of HeartMath. Modifications include translations, editorial revisions, interpretive matter, annotations, elaboration's or other adaptations or forms of presentation that are based on the original HeartMath work. Modifications may be made only with specific written permission from HeartMath. We respect the expertise and experience many people bring to the 1:1 Program and are committed to a fair, collaborative and quick approval process regarding creative applications of HeartMath System and technology.
Can I use the HeartMath techniques with clients if I am not licensed?
You don't need a license to share your personal experience of the HeartMath System with others. Many professionals have discovered how their own personal use of the tools and techniques can enhance their client work. If you believe your clients or patients could benefit from the HeartMath System, we suggest you refer them to the many HeartMath products which are designed for self learning. Without training and a license, however, no one can promote themselves as a HeartMath provider or charge to teach others the techniques.
Can I sell HeartMath products to increase my income from the HeartMath aspect of my business?
Yes. Selling books, materials, and the emWave products can be a substantial income generator as well as a way to provide your clients with additional information to help their understanding and use of the HeartMath System. In addition to the workbooks, providers can purchase our commercially available products, books, CD’s, learning programs and emWave products at discounted prices that range from 20-40% below list price.
How long is the license good for?
The Provider license is for one year and is automatically renewed provided 1) all HeartMath accounts are current and 2) you are actively teaching the HeartMath 1:1 program to your clients. To be considered 'active' you are required to purchase a minimum of $500 worth of approved 1:1 workbooks and HeartMath products during the 12 months prior to each renewal date.
*1:1 provider license does not allow for training groups or conducting any type of workshop or seminar.
